After the successful completion of a regional 400kV interconnection feasibility study, E&E signed a contract with Mott MacDonald Ltd (UK) for participation in the WBIF IPF Project ” Montenegro: Feasibility Study and Preliminary Design – Electricity network expansion for the development of renewable energy sources (RES)”. The study is funded by the European Commission, through Western Balkans Investment Fund (WBIF), within Infrastructure Projects Facility (IPF 3) project. Lead IFI is European Bank for Development (EBRD) and the Beneficiary of the study is Montenegrin Transmission System Operator (CGES).
The study refers to several power facilities, including 110 kV overhead line (OHL) Herceg Novi – Vilusi, 110kV switchyard within the substation Brezna (with an analysis of the existing 110kV OHLs) and 400kV switchyard within the substation Brezna, with connection to the future 400 kV OHL Lastva – Čevo (construction in progress). The Terms of Reference define the scope of services, which includes the following components:
1. System Studies,
2. Technical Assessment, including Technical Design of transmission lines and substations and Project Implementation Plan,
3. Financial analysis and
4. Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Study.

E&E is responsible for the preparation of technical analysis, OHL part. Technical design is developed to the level of Preliminary Design, as per the legislation of Montenegro. E&E team consists of four senior and one junior expert with electrical, civil, geological and geodetic background.

The other participants in the study are Electricity Coordination Center (EKC) Belgrade, GSS (Global Substation Solutions) Belgrade, as well as the teams responsible for the ESIA / EIA part and the Finance and Economics part.

The deadline for completion of the study is April 2016.
